Active Lives for Older Adults
Older adults, individuals 55 and above, are a significant and growing segment of our communities. All seniors benefit from engaging in Y activities that enhance connections, decrease a sense of isolation, and improve overall well-being. Maintain your health and functional ability with programs designed especially for the needs of Seniors. We begin to lose bone density, balance and coordination as we age. The good news is that there is something we can do about it! Strength training and creating a fitness regime can deter or prevent these issues from occurring. Our Active Older Adult and Silver Sneaker classes will teach you how to build muscle strength, endurance and increase mobility. Everyday activities will become easier, posture will improve and you’ll look and feel great!
Senior Exercise Classes
HYDRO FIX | Benton Harbor-St. Joseph | Functional exercise for the entire body with low-impact and low-intensity exercise.
AQUA AEROBICS | Niles-Buchanan | This class offers the benefits of muscle toning, inches lost, cardio fitness, and socialization.
CHAIR AEROBICS | Niles-Buchanan | Whether seated, supported by a chair, or standing free, participants engage in strength toning, flexibility, and balance exercises while benefitting from a cardio workout.
FIT FOR LIFE | Niles-Buchanan | This class will concentrate on cardiovascular conditioning, muscle toning, power, endurance, flexibility, and strength.
JUST MY EXERCISE | Niles-Buchanan | This is a weight-loss program designed for beginners in a group environment.
SENIOR YOGA | Niles-Buchanan | Beginner yoga intended for the active older adult, who will gain range of motion, flexibility, and strength.
